Castles in the Air

.

.

I longed for, once, there

to be castles in the air.

.

Ah! Silly youth.

You must now

know the truth:

.

And this may seem unfair,

but,

in New Mexico,

there are no castles,

anywhere.

.

Lo Siento.

  1. A very interesting poem with lovely cadence. I’m not sure if New Mexico is worse than other places in the castle arena, but the closing line is quite lovely, and certainly there is a promise of exoticism (or Newness) in New Mexico depending upon which side you are coming from. k.
