I walk    by myself,

I talk     with myself.

I keep     to myself,


It’s come down    to this –

A blast    from the past

for whatever it was.

    Too fast!    I cast

what I had sown.

All that I was

and what now I am,

    mere recollections

from a very old man.

And here now, at last,

there is something I must


lest this     go unknown.

I’ve kept     with myself,

and talked     to myself.

I’ve walked     by myself

    where I roam.

All youth     having passed,

    I end up     like this:

The last     of my past,

    on my own.

You might see me    here,

but once I was    there –
