iris-eyed p’ups

ah silly Croci

‘tis you I espy
on a corner

near a tree
under sky

how much more
of this winter

the cold
to defy?

purple-plush petals
stand firm

the cold
in the air

the winter’s
cold glare

there must be
some mix up

it’s too soon
to show up

single eye
to sky
an eye
meets an eye

the iris-eyed p’up’s
to that of the sun up’s

but why

are you here
in the chill
of the air?

too early
for Croci
to come up

it’s here
where I ask
under sun
where you bask

where softly
and quietly
