~
The canyon walls
so do enthrall,
the heights are so impressive;
~
these canyons call
great wherewithals,
from man’s great flights of fancy.
~
On Sundays, bare,
there’s no one there;
yet, still it fels expressive.
~
A paper cup
that someone’s dropped
retains the single vestige
~
immaterial,
though ethereal –
an abstract of a past congressive.
~
These canyon walls
where rivers crawl,
on streets whose names are history.
~
Pedestrian crowds,
combustibles loud,
converge, and become concrescive.
~
From high to low,
and down below,
in quasi-temporal habitancy
~
the rich push wares,
the poor push theirs –
in vivacious forms of mordancy.
~
To stop and stare;
to become aware;
to take the time
to be just there,
~
elucidates and educates
and hearkens the heart to revere
these canyon walls –
so veridical,
it’s such that you must admire.

Truly wonderful flow and some fun rhyme too, those canyon walls, rivers and all, one must admire.
a lovely flow of words.. from canyon walls to city streets.. i wish i can see the canyon walls and admire them ~
to stop and take the time to just be there…to me that is crux…we are so fast man we miss so much around us…hardly ever there but steps beyond…i like that cup…
I think you chose the perfect structure for this piece, 3 lines, alternating rhyme scheme. Wonderful flow and sentiment. Thanks
I like your end words, reaching out to challenge the concepts with a fresh touch. Canyons are the footprints of time and a river–and our lives are too often just the passage eroded by events–I like the idea of things just being.
you give that canyon walls a multiple meaning and shine the light on them from different angles…but yes..the just being..the seeing..we so often miss it
Yes, we need to live in the present to notice what are the things the life in living is made up of… otherwise the mind just grasps all the attention away from innerself and enjoys its chaotic journey of sense gratifications…. I liked this verse so much and could relate to it deeper … much deeper….
Lovely… thanks for sharing…
