The Road to Abiquiú

~

The route we take to Abiquiú

is really each one’s own option.

~

It’s known there’s few but one road new

that’s likely to win one’s adoption.

~

The interstate is fast and straight

and time is a favorite factor.

To navigate the roads we take

can bind and break a lifelong trait

of the constant easy path-taker.

~

Life is a journey to the end, a gurney;

it’s short and sweet, but sometimes late,

why live one’s life with chronic ill hate,

when there’s choices each one can readily make?

~

The route we take to Abiquiú,

of which there’s more than one option,

~

we know of a few, but take one new!

and the journey will brighten and broaden.
