    that I used to know.

 

Those Longhorn Steers,

    the way I figure,

Fifty some-odd

    years ago,

 

Were 80k number

    where now it’s just under

A million or more

    souls or so.

 

Should I go back there

    I’m afraid I won’t find there

The faces that I

    used to know.

 

But that’s just one story

    of 80k stories,

From fifty some-odd

    years ago.

 

I’d feel much bereft,

    like the only one left,

In a million or more

    souls or so,

 

From those Longhorn Steers

     long ago.
