The Quickening

….

first comes the quickening

no longer there

an ancient excitement

long disappeared

~

day in    day out

so many the year

forgotten    the wonder

that’s flushed from aware

~

too soon it goes lost

at the cost of career

the myth    of excitement

as middle age nears

~

daylight delightment

a new day draws near

anxious excitement

as new things appear

~

one loses the sentience

leaves it somewhere

then back in a flash

it’s suddenly there

~

where has it been

long hidden these years

one misses reliance

on things of no longer

~

now for the future

to only remember

….
