You Are What You Eat

tinkwelborn's avatarTink's ChapBlog ~ Tales of the Tribe. Mythopoeic Verse

~
A fly in the ointment,
      had no appointment;
he did what he wanted to do:

All was free-fare
      with everything there!
and he fed to his fill until through.

Then being thus sated,
      still nothing abated
his eating – so he ate, and he ate.

Now, the fly was ill-fated;
      and flew over-weighted
into a web, over-head!

And the spider?     Elated!
      This was just what she waited,
for a fat fly to be over-fed.

The end of the story,
      well, it gets kind of gory,
so I’ll skip to the title, instead:

Unless it’s bassackwards,
      “You Are What You eat,”
Feuerbach himself had once said.
