Poetic License

I cannot

    I will not

I do not    read others…

Lest, one day

    They may come

And grift me,

    My brothers,

By saying    I’ve copied,

    Lifted or stole

Ideas from them,

    From poems I had read.

     I have to look!

Sometimes I look.

Oft times I peek

    At poems from the others.

If anyone thinks…

    That this poem is taken,

    That person’s shooting

From the top of their head.

This story’s mine.

The song is brand new!

Except for the one

Where Someplace I read.
