~
it snows in the mountains
it sleets on the plains
down to the coastlines
it all turns to rain
winter befalls us
cold hard and fast
and memory serves us
conserves us at best
by knowing that spring
renews us at last
relief would then tell us
when winter has passed
~
and so goes this circle
the cycle the same
that which abides us
betides us again
snow falls on mountains
sleet on the plains
the circle recycles
through different men
if mother had told me
thus would be so
I should not have passed life
so fast but then slow
I could have know cycles
and circles – I know!
but so much for short life
past that I can’t go
